About Us

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF

I started dry cleaning back in the 1970s when I used to help my dad with his work in the local drycleaners. I was probably about 10 years old at the time and I loved it!

I then got a Saturday job there when I was in my teens and helped out in the school holidays.

When I left school my dad opened his first dry cleaning shop in Tuckton and soon after that I went to work with him.

He made me a partner and I was a part owner of the drycleaners. In the mid to late 1980s we then opened a dry cleaners shop in Poole.

By the early 1990s we sold it and went our separate ways. But not for long as we then bought Central Dry Cleaners in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth. This is the shop that I own today.

My dad has now retired (but will always cover me for holidays) and I am now a sole trader. Well, that is until my twin boys are old enough to help. They are only 3 years old but I’ll have them working very soon!

COLLECTION SERVICE

Why not take advantage of our free collection service?

As long as your order is over £10, there will be no charge for collection.

ENVIRONMENT

Since October 31st 2007 all dry cleaners must regulate how much solvent they use in order to comply with the regulations set out by DEFRA.

In brief, this means that we have to weigh how much work we are cleaning and check that we are not using too much solvent which may harm the environment.

You may be pleased to hear that central dry cleaners comply with DEFRAS entire solvent emissions directive and have been issued with a permit to dry clean.
